What is a precious metal account?
In jewellery-making, there are remnants of precious metal – sawdust, shavings, pieces of sheet metal, etc.
There are broadly three options for handling these remnants. You can clean, melt, and alloy the remnants yourself into new material, sell them to a scrap buyer, or utilise the Tavast metal account service.
Under the metal account service, you can return the remnants to us and exchange them for new materials, be it wires, sheets, or granules.
Tavast Eesti Ltd offers its metal account service to professional clients who are legal entities (goldsmiths, jewellery artists, manufacturers).
Your account can accept the following types of metal for return:
- Precious Metal Items - old jewellery, silverware, etc.
- Precious Metal Production Remnants - larger pieces of sheet metal, wire, and other clearly distinguishable pieces
- Precious Metal Small Remnants - dust, shavings, filings (excluding sweepings, dust, polishing waste with low silver content)
- We perform metal exchanges only between like metals: gold for gold, silver for silver; palladium for palladium, and platinum for platinum.
- The returned remnants must be sorted by type.
- Small remnants must be separated from larger production remnants.
- Metal held in the metal account cannot be withdrawn in cash.
