Description
Durable and Precise Moulding for High-Quality Jewellery Production
Castaldo Econosil® is a harder, firmer, yet still flexible alternative to Castaldo Super High Strength™ moulding rubber. Designed to deliver greater consistency in casting weights and reduced variation, it offers a highly detailed finish with minimal distortion. By compressing less during wax injection, Econosil prevents thin channels from being blocked, ensuring smooth and even wax flow—an essential feature for filigree and intricate jewellery designs.
Unlike traditional moulding rubbers, Econosil requires no messy sprays or powders—waxes self-release effortlessly, producing shiny, high-detail wax injections that require less finishing. The material is also easy to pack and cut, making it an efficient choice for high-volume production.
Versatile for Both Jewellery and Low-Temperature Metal Casting
Beyond jewellery applications, Castaldo Econosil® is widely used for low-temperature metal direct casting, withstanding temperatures of up to 350°C (660°F). This makes it suitable for casting:
- Toy soldiers and figurines
- Chess pieces and collectable miniatures
- Fishing lures and cabinet knobs
- Small machine and tool parts
- Pewter, tin, lead, and zinc metal castings
Minimal Shrinkage & Excellent Strength
With a low shrinkage rate of just 1.1%, Econosil ensures consistent and accurate reproductions of original designs. It offers high tear resistance, making it durable enough for long-term production use while remaining easy to cut and handle.
Vulcanisation Process
Econosil vulcanises at temperatures between 165°C – 176°C (330°F – 350°F). The material remains pliable before vulcanisation, making it simple to shape around models. Once cured, the rubber becomes firm yet flexible, ensuring durability while maintaining easy release properties.
Storage Recommendations
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat or sunlight.
